VETERANS’ MOTHER OF 1948 was affectionate title bestowed on Mrs. Polly Fitch in Mother’s Day ceremony at Shaughnessy Hospital, Sunday. Along with sick visiting and Salvation Army work, Mrs. Fitch has attended many veteran’s funerals. Rev. H. Berry, Shaughnessy chaplain, presented scroll, and American Legion awarded document for devotion to veterans.SOUTH SEAS BOUND shortly will be the trim 40-foot sailing cutter Escapee, on a 20,000-mile adventure. Jack Wells, one of the trio of Vancouverites making the voyage, is on the foredeck. Owner-skipper Philip “Pip” Brock and Bob Fortune will be his shipmates to the islands where the trade winds blow.They’re Off in Annual B.C. Music Stakes – PRE-FESTIVAL WARM-UP is being held by these boys of the John Norquay 35-voice choir. The boys gathered around their teacher, Miss Jean Fraser, to try out their song before the eight-day B.C. Music Festival started today.
