HIDDEN FLAMES in Mitchell Drug store fire, Clinton and Hastings, hampered firemen in $50,000 blaze that spread to New Method Beauty Parlor. Crouching firemen peer into smokey building for root of trouble after chopping through wall and floor. Two stores were gutted.
SMOKE-SCREENED FIRE at Mitchell Drug Store, Clinton and Hastings, blocked fire fighting until firemen smashed plate glass window and released smoke. Fire started in chemical store room and was sealed by automatic steel doors. Intense heat, however, spread fire through store and neighboring New Method Beauty Parlor, causing $50,000 damage.

Soft smoky plumage, wide black collar, red face and legs make him fascinating though ugly. Favorite recreation is standing on one leg. Bird came from man on Mitchell Island in Fraser River.
